Your next customer
may never see
your website.
They ask ChatGPT for a plumber in Randburg. They ask Google’s AI answer who does conveyancing near them. They get three names and a sentence each, and they never scroll a page of results at all.
ChatGPT, Google’s AI answers, Copilot and Perplexity all work the same way. They read websites and then recommend from what they could read. If they cannot read yours, you are not one of the three names. Most of the time the reason is dull, technical and fixable in an afternoon.
One of six measured categories
Ready for AI
Whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google can reach your site, whether you have said plainly who you are and what you do, and whether a machine can quote you without getting it wrong. Most site owners have never checked.
It is one part of the free website score in the menu above, which I call the Roadworthy Test. 71 checks across six categories, with the evidence shown for every one. No opinion and no guesswork.
Why these tools skip a site.
Almost never because the business is not good enough. Nearly always because of something nobody chose.
The crawlers are blocked
A robots file refusing the AI crawlers, usually added by a host or a plugin without anyone deciding to. It is the commonest single cause and usually a one-line fix.
Your facts are pictures
Hours, prices and services baked into an image. A person reads it fine, but a machine sees only a photograph and moves on to a competitor it can read.
No structured facts
Your address, hours, services and area are on the page as sentences but not as data. Adding the data is invisible to visitors and decisive to a machine.
You never said it plainly
Pages full of “solutions” and “excellence” and nowhere a sentence saying what you do and which towns you do it in. These tools can only repeat something specific.
What I will not promise.
There is no ranking to buy inside ChatGPT, no lever anyone can pull and no agency on earth that can guarantee you a recommendation. If someone tells you otherwise, keep your money.
What I can do is remove every reason you are invisible, and make your site the easiest one in your trade for a machine to read and quote accurately. That is the whole honest version of this service, and it starts with a free measurement rather than a proposal.
Measure it
Run the free test. The Ready for AI category tells you what is blocking you, with the evidence attached.
Fix what is dull
Crawler access, structured facts and real text where there are currently pictures of text. Unglamorous and usually quick.
Say it plainly
Write the pages so a machine can state what you do, where you do it and who for, without inventing anything.
Frequently asked
Both, and it is worth being blunt about that. The behaviour is real: people genuinely ask ChatGPT or Google's AI for a recommendation instead of scrolling ten blue links. What is not real is anyone promising to get you ranked number one inside ChatGPT. Nobody controls that. What can be done is making sure your site is readable, quotable and factually clear, so that when one of them does look, it finds something it can use.
Run the free website score, the one I call the Roadworthy Test. Ready for AI is one of its six categories and it is measured rather than guessed at: whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's crawlers are allowed in at all, whether your pages carry the structured facts these tools need and whether your content is written in a way that can be repeated back. You see the evidence for every check.
Usually something dull and fixable. A robots file quietly blocking the AI crawlers, often added by a host or a plugin without anyone deciding to. Text baked into images so there is nothing to read. No structured data, so your address, hours and services are invisible as facts. Or a page that never plainly states what you do and where you do it, because everyone involved already knew.
Some businesses do block them on purpose, but they are almost never businesses like yours. It is news sites, publishers and anyone whose writing or photographs are the product being sold, and they block because they do not want that work used for free. If what you sell is a service in a suburb, none of that applies to you. Nearly every block I find was never a decision at all: a host or a plugin added it and nobody was told. If you want to be recommended, they have to be able to read you.
No, and be careful with anyone who does. There is no ranking to buy and no lever to pull. What I can do is remove the reasons you are invisible and make your site the easiest one in your trade to quote accurately. That is the honest version of this service.

The test is free and the result is measured. If it comes back clean, you have lost a minute and gained an answer.
What the test shows
- Whether ChatGPT and the others can reach your site at all, or are turned away at the door.
- Whether your facts are readable text or locked inside pictures.
- Whether anything on the page states plainly what you do and where you do it.
